Nipple Piercing

I'm thinking about getting my nipple pierced but I've been getting mixed reports on the whole thing. I don't mind about the pain as such, I'm just worried about having a mutant nipple if it goes wrong! Any thoughts on the issue are welcome

Speaking as a female...

Pain is nothing to write home about, it's fairly standard. You need to watch out for it being rubbed or caught by clothing or bras and keeping it clean (sea salt soaks are your friend). Go to a reputable piercer who will place it right and you'll be grand as long as you take care of it.

Nipple infections are nasty so just make sure it's happy and not irritated.

I got mine done vertically but ended up taking them out because they got in the way during sexytimes, but I really want to get them done horizontally.

I have a horizontally pierced nipple, with a ring fitted. Originally I had a bar, but I grew tired of it. I'd agree with the previous poster, the pain isn't too bad, and cleanliness is important.

Hey I've had both of my nipples pierced (horizontally), one was fine for ages but started to grow out so i just took it out myself, I have a small scar across my nip but nothing major at all, barely noticable. The other one is perfect, never had a problem really, just look after it and I agree with Gauge about the sea salt soaks, work a treat:)

I've had mine done since I was 16! Easy to sit thro. Easy to kep clean, It just tends to get caught in in them net body puffs a bit. That can be sore. Watch for that!!

Otherwise, go to a decent piercer. And it's a pretty standard piercing to do. So you should have no worries, yeah?

Mine was quite sore, and you'll be fairly tender for a good while. apparently I got it done at quite a dodgy place (my friend ended up getting an infection from the same place) so it was rather lucky on my part it turned out well. Also it's probably not a good idea if you're into rugby or something as it really ****ing hurts if it gets pulled at.

Getting it caught in stuff seems like the main pain in the ass so! I got my tattoo and belly button pierced in a place in Galway but I've heard some bad press about them lately so I might wait untill I can find someone else.

I have mine done about 4 years.

I went to the one in Temple Bar and I have not had any trouble since - It was Grand!

I caught it a couple of times in the towel while it was healing but once it is healed you can yank it like there is no tomorrow and it is fine.

I love it!

For some reason I always catch mine on the door getting out of the shower. That and school bag straps.

School bags straps?? Now that sounds painful!! I'm prob going to get it sone but not untill after my exams are over...it would suck trying to concentrate with a sore nip!

I have vertical barbells in both nipples and have had them for about 6 years now. I could not live without them, other piercings come and go...........

As with all pieces of metal hanging out of the body, I do catch them from time to time and curse the gods. Overall they stay healthy and I am happy with them. Verticals take slightly longer to heal so I have heard due to the manner of piercing in that direction, but are much more fun. Boiled salted water is the best remedy for piercings which are poorly and finding a reputable piercer is a must!

I had verticals but I took them out. I think they are slightly more fragile than horizontal ones because they can get bumped or caught from underneath...

Indeed so. It's a whole new way of bathing/showering/towelling without injury! Try using an acrylic shower mitt and getting caught in the holes - that wakes you up. They certainly need taking care of, although not as much as horzintal surface piercings I had in the back of my neck (clothes tags a nightmare).....................

My ex girlfriend got both hers done and right after the guy pierced them he told her that she would not be able to breastfeed because the piercing cuts off the ducts or some such magicke.

I really liked them on her but I found it highly unusual that he didnt tell her in advance...

Hi everyone! Long time no post eh?

Anywho...I got it done!! Obviously it hurt but not as much as I expected.
I got it done in Metal Works. He was really nice and didn't oogle (not that there's much to oogle at!!) It was a weird kind of pain, quite nice actually!!
I got it pierced with a bar horizontally, nice and conventional like.
He told me a story about a woman he knew getting her nipple ripped off because she got the bar caught in the shower door?? *EEK*
It's healed up nicely, didn't have any probs with it.
The one thing I did notice is that my nipple is now really sensitive
For anyone thinking about getting it done...just go for it!! If you realise that you don't like it after a while or whatever, you can always take it out!!

As for me...I'm thinking about a new piercing...or a new tattoo.....
