Empty Libraries?

The library is deadly quiet these days. There are just 2 people at the large desks on the 4th floor of the Ussher, and I've the entire middle section to myself. Across the atrium, there's little or no-one. But there were places here all day! I know it's been 2 years since I've properly studied, but I do remember it being full then.

I know it was Pav Wednesday today, but the busiest I've seen the library this year was the last week of the Hilary term "break". Are people not studying or are a lot of people just studying at home?

Note: I'm not complaining. Less people in the library to make noise and take up places, so that I can stretch out my legs while I'm reading something.

On my own (twisted) topic, I just noticed this earlier on. The annual extension to library opening hours near the exams is up:

All the Schols people have now vacated the library and can generally be found in the vicinity of the Pav, while most of the rest in JF/SF still haven't hit the panicky "Augh, it's two weeks til exams and I don't know what course I'm in!!!" thing that seemed to happen in late April last year. That plus the great weather of late = empty libraries.

I'm enjoying this warm weather while I can in the hope that it'll reduce my want to get out when I should be cramming :)

Yeah, it's the weather causing this effect: that's why I'm not in the library as much as would be good for me, anyway.

I blame the weather.. though its Friday morning now and Ussher4 is about 60% full

Yeah, 'tis indeed. There are a total of 3 pepole in the large desk section.

I've my books spread out across several tables at this point. Long may the sunshine last!

I think I remember having the same experience last year, the first week back the libraries were empty, don't worry, it doesn't last long.

Soon the libraries will be filled with students who have no idea how to use the library, so plenty of mobile phones and laptops to keep you distracted from now on. That is, if you manage to find a seat.

As the saying goes, make notes while the sun shines.

The Ussher's very busy this evening. I think my colleagues in the Arts Building have realised exams are coming.

Yeah, Hamilton & Ussher were both packed at around 4 & 5.

There was a fair smattering of folks in Euphoria at around nine o'clock this morning.

Right, weather or no weather, I will be in the library tomorrow. This has gone well and truly beyond a joke.

Ussher 4th is fairly pack-tastic. Well that may be hyperbole, but there are people sitting on both sides of me ohhh yehhh....

And now begins the 'spot moorsy' game...
