Looks excellent. A nice amount of home made charm but still cool.

I'm not really familiar with Iron man backstory. Is that some sort of prototype suit? (Kind've like Spiderman's 'The Human Spider' getup in its first film)

Its a working prototype.anything else would be a spoiler. Its also the way he looked in his first appearance for marvel.

Sadly the last half of the film is just a big Cillit Bang ad with Tony Stark and Barry Scott doing an infomercial, cleaning various combat suits. I'm hating the way Hollywood is selling out to the advertisers :(

Comic book adaptations can be hit and miss.
On one side you have: Spider-Man, Blade, 300, Batman Begins
The other: Ghost Rider, Catwoman, Batman and Robin, Fantastic 4

Lets hope Iron Man can get into the former list.

Look what it does to this Mandarin!

Did anyone see the recent animated Iron Man feature film? It had the old suit too... but it was an incredibly dull film.

Ghost Rider was directed by a man with a very poor track record. Favreau's not bad at what he does. And going with Robert Downey Jnr was a very ballsey move. I have faith in it, and I rarely have faith in comic book movies.

Wasn't his first suit yellow? Will his more advanced suit be the usual red and yellow?

Ya it should be.The original poster for the movie showed the yellow and red suit much lie the ultimates version thats being used at the moment MUCH sleeker then what you just saw.The original grey suit was built out of wepons parts and stuff so thats why it looks bulkier.
