hi guys just bought me a classic that needs a bit of work.

mainly theres about 4-5 spots on the body which average about 3"-4" in size. so im looking to get the rust cut off the body and new bits welded on.

am hoping someone here could give me some recommendations for people in dublin who would do a good job at a decent price

    thanks

Out of pure and utter nosiness, what did you purchase?

    Pics?

Surface rust unfortunately can be an indicator of worse things lying beneath, but that's par for the course with old metal.

    That said, anything is possible.

its a 1971 VW devon camper :) got it for 5k and IMO was a great buy has orignal registration cert and full (starting from 1973) serivce history, including a brand new engine 5 years ago so will now go about resotring the interiior

have bought it from a mate who didnt wanna sell it except he's moving to australia for 2 years. he talked me through all the bits that need attention so the body is in very decent shape.

will post up ics later on when i get a chance. BTW does anyone knowa good place for insurance cos i'm having a bit of hassle getting it, im 25 , full icense and 1 yr NCB

    Nice one!

Regarding the insurance, I wouldn't go with First Ireland, pricewise alone if for no other reason. (I was with them for a year before).

Drop peasant a pm, or post over on the campervan forum, I'm sure they'll be delighted to help you. :)

Try and get some pics up too, if you can. It may give us an idea.

I have my camper insured with Dolmen Insurance Brokers,Butterly Business Park, Artane, D5 (01 8672121) Cost is €330 for any camper once you have a car on the road. There may be an initial admin cost of approx €30. Not sure on the age of driver or whan NCB they require,
Worth a call. They are quite busy at the moment so you could be holding for a while as most of their policies come up for renewal at the end of March
