New Super Mario Bros. is the best game on the system imo,

64 isnt great at all, nothing compared to the n64 one

Mario Kart DS imo is an essential game to buy.
    I also liked Phoenix Wright.

Its completly subjective. What kind of games do you like?

I second New Super Mario Bros. Brilliant Game. You wont' be able to put it down till its finished.

The multiplayer mini games that come with it are also worth the price on their own.

I would not buy new super mario bros. because it is too short,i wouldget either mario kart(very good, especially multiplayer) or mario 64 (almost the same as the original, and will keep you playing for a long time)

    It's very *very* subjective.
I found Mario 64 DS to be completely unengaging. New SMB is grand but if you've played Super Mario World it's just more of the same, and you can pick that up cheaper on a GBA cart. Or Yoshi's Island 2.
I really enjoyed MarioKart DS - it's a nice mix of the best bits (both tracks and controls) of previous MK incarnations. It'll give you chronic Claw Hand though. Animal Crossing is quite addictive. Phoenix Wright can take a bit of getting into you but it grows on you faster than athlete's foot. Elite Beat Agents is well worth it too.

If you can only pick one though, you'd really need to give us an idea of what type of games you like and what games in those genres you like and dislike.

Mario 64 is a classic, but if you've played it before/have it for the n64 I wouldn't bother with the DS iteration.

The novelty of playing Mario 64 "on the go" is nice and all but it wore off for me (at least) pretty quickly and what I was left with was a version that imo had terrible controls compared to the original.

If you've never had the chance to play it on the n64 though I'd definately recommend it.

    Super Mario Bros
    Phoenix Wright
    Pro Evo
    Final Fantasy 3

There are plenty of titles that will easily keep you happy!!

I'm strung out on Metriod Prime hunters, and Metroid Prime pinball at the moment.

Just buy it from an American ebay seller. I bought it ages ago. Excellent game.

You say Mario kart is good, especially because of its multiplayer, yet fail to mention the multiplayer in New Super Mario Bros. As I said before, it's worth getting for that alone.

Don't listen to him! ;) It's a brilliant game. There are 80 levels across eight worlds, two of which you have to unlock. Not to mention finding each of the three start coins in every level. Not short at all.

I quite like Trauma Centre and Brain Training, also if Sudoku is you thing Essential Sudoku is about €15 and amazing value with 1000 suduko puzzles and 1000 picross puzzles on one cart, think you can get it in Virgin.

I strongly suggest either Castlevania games; Dawn of Sorrow or Portrait of Ruin (I prefered the latter). Y'know, if you're in to that sort of thing.

So it looks like super mario bros or super mario kart

I would choose mario kart, especially if you have wifi access.

Well, they're both great games. I play quite a lot of multiplayer Mario Kart with my two sisters. However, it does wear a little thin after a while. It's just carting. That's all really. After 4 or 5 races you're bored and looking for another game.

New Super Mario Bros multiplayer has much more variety to it. From action to puzzle and strategy. I come back to it again and again. And then there's the whole single player game on top of that.

Anyway, I think you get the idea... ;)

And you can wave bye-bye to your summer, it will consume your life for a few months at least.

Between New Super Mario Bros and Mario Kart DS, it really is a toss-up. Both of them are great quality games, have good multiplayer and give a fantastic gaming experience. Get both :)
