Question about wireless on Xbox 360

I've got my 360 currently connected via cable to my router for Xbox Live. However I want to move the Xbox to another room of the house that is too far away from the router to connect with the cable. I'm not too pushed on paying 90 quid for the Xbox wireless adaptor and was wondering if a normal USB Wireless Key would work just the same?? Any ideas?

I've never tried so I can't be 100% sure but I seriously doubt anybody would pay €90 for an official xbox wireless dongle if you were just able to use any usb wireless dongle you could buy for €15.

Only the usb 360 wireless will work. You can pick them up for €70 now not 90, is still a rip but what can you do.
