Right, the big day is approaching at a terrifying pace! I'm wondering who the wedding couple are supposed to buy for?

I know the bridesmaids normally get a present, I presume the best man does also? What about the groomsmen and anyone else I have forgotten?

    Thanks,

    Eoin

    Eoin,

I'm in a similar situation, I think the rule of thumb is anybody sitting at the top table, parents, groomsmen, bridesmaids, and anybody that has gone out of their way to help you prepare for the day.

My question is, how much do you spend on each person?

Thanks for the replies folks. From what I can tell from other sites, it definitely looks like it's the done thing to get the groomsmen and bridesmaids gifts as well.

What to get is the next question!

You could give them an unwanted wedding present just don't forget to take out the card!!! Or on a serious note beautician vouchers great idea for bridesmaid.

I was groomsman for my mate last year and he gave us all cufflinks with our initials on them. Nice touch and we all wore them on the day.

The beauticians idea for the bridesmaids is a good one. If you are in Dublin I can thoroughly recommend the Buff Day Spa(www.thebuffdayspa.com), its fab and most women I know would really appreciate a voucher for there and wouldn't take it the wrong way. Having been a bridesmaid twice now (each time for my sisters) they bought me (and my other sister also a bridesmaid) some really nice jewelery which was also appreciated. They (the people getting married) bought the groomsmen hip flasks as far as I remember. The mothers got flowers and a broach from Newbridge Silver, the fathers didn't get anything though which now that I think about it is a little unfair. That covers all those at the top table except the priest who has already been paid a small fortune for doing his job and marrying you so I don't think its necessary to buy anything for him just say a thanks at the speech time.
Best of luck on your day, have a fab time and a great honeymoon.

Cufflinks are a good idea my bro got me them and a moneyclip when I was groomsman for his wedding. I am getting pocket watches for the groomsmen going to give them to them the night before. You can get them cheap on the us sites however you prob need a US address to send them too, got someone to send them over to me..

    "Spa day" or "pamper day".
