Has anyone purchased stuff from "digitalishop", a Hong Kong based seller on ebay? Just contemplating getting the Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 from him for STG £52.99 + £20 postage/packing/profit. That works out at about 108 euros.
He's throwing in a UV filter (no mention what make or model) and a lens hood with it.

I was going to get it from Conn's for €134+postage but they don't have any stock and apparently neither does Nikon UK.

Anyways just wondering if anyone here has bought from this guy before - i.e. did you get stung for import duty?

    Thanks :)

Even if you get stung for duty and VAT, you'll still be in and around what you paid in Conn's. As long as the feedback is very positive (i.e. 97% or above), you should have no problems

Yeah go for it. you have nothing to lose really.

The filter will probably be poor, but hey, its free.:)

The free filters I got looked like they had been taken
ice skating or something.....weird i know!!!

Out of interest, what Seller feedback rating are you prepared to accept?

As a general rule I won't buy from a seller with less then 99% positive feedback, but I may deal with a Seller of 98% rating if he's had a lot of transactions and the last 6 months have been trouble free.

I've bought bits and pieces from sellers in HK and delivery via regular post can take anything from 4 to 8 weeks...so don't freak-out if you don't receive it anytime soon.

Yeah I've bought low-cost stuff from UR-Galaxy before and it took about a month to arrive :/
