    Re. Dublin Waste Site Advert

Apologies to Mods et al if I am breaking any site rules here relating to competition sites (if such a thing exists on free sites) but here I go ......

.......Does anyone know if there are any admin operators keeping an eye on this site (Dublin Waste) as there is no opportunity to give neg feedback. If I'm wrong please correct me.

I answered an advert to collect two free standing pine wardrobes last Saturday from a woman called <snip>. My wife rang just after to confirm pick up Tuesday evening ( April 10th ) - everything hunkydory - measurements of both wardrobes were conveyed by text also on Saturday evening to my mobile phone to ensure they'd fit in a trailer I was to hire Tuesday afternoon.

Rang <snip> on Tuesday morning again to confirm collection and was told to come ahead.

I rented a trailer Tuesday afternoon for the day (or part thereof as the charging system goes) and travelled to <snip> (the pick up point - <snip> to be precise as it was advertised on the advert) across the <snip> at 6.30pm from <snip>. From the start of the journey to end I RANG ABOUT 6-7 TIMES to confirm my arrival but no answer. I arrived at approx 8pm (after traffic) to be greeted by the womans husband who opened the door to me and told me that they were doing up the house and he had 'smashed up' those wardrobes on Saturday afternoon. I told him this wasn't on after all I'd done to get there and I turned on my heels and found myself sitting back in my car fuming. I got out again and knocked at the door to be greeted by the husband and either his father or his father-in-law. I asked him to show me what he'd smashed up and I would see if I couuld salvage anything and make at least one wardrobe out of it. He brought me into his kitchen at which point I see his wife <snip> (see above) ducking into the dining room. Having confirmed she was <snip>, albeit very sheepishly, I asked why she -

    1. Hadn't answered any of my calls during the journey over
    2. Had confirmed pick up of the items on the previous Saturday
    3. Had reconfirmed pick up of the items that day
    4. Hadn't the manners to ring me and cancel the whole deal
    5. Confirmed my suspicions that somebody else had picked up the wardrobes before me regardless of the fact that I had actually been the first to call just after the ad' was posted,

There was no reply forthcoming - I looked at husband, daddy (or daddy-in-law) and all I got were blank faces. Turned on heel a second time and out the door........

    thank you very much <snip>

Just needed to let off some steam

Definitely the wrong place for this type of thing.

And posting up someones personal details isn't on... I'd suggest you edit that out.

Use either the consumer issues forum or the 'get it off your chest' thread in the after hours forum

You can't go posting peoples personal details on this site. It has got nothing to do with Bargain Alerts. I don't even know where this goes but reckon it has no place on boards, so locked. Contact the Dublin Waste team at info@dublinwaste.ie maybe but I doubt you'll get far.
