browser con fig help needed

    my internet explorer keeps assining a http in front of everything i type this stoping me using it to browse my 192.168.1.254 ip to change my wep and network settings can i turn this off
    any help guys would be much appreciated:cool:

    http:// won't stop you from accessing your router (at least not in any case I've seen)... it's more likely that there's some other problem, like using the wrong IP or not having a proper connection to your router.
    Have you tried pinging the router and/or resetting it?

    it always does that, and i can connect to my router with http:// infront.

    like said above... check it. maybe you dont actually have the right ip?

    normally its assigned 192.168.1.1

    I think .254 is right for eircom and utv routers.
    I'd say it's a connectivity issue, especially since you mention wep... can you connect to it using an ethernet cable?
    On the few occasions I've played with wireless routers, I've managed to lock myself out quite easily, requiring me to do a hardware/factory reset on the thing.
    Lesson #1... back up your router config!

    i sorted out the problem i reset router with the pin hole at the back,i did a system restore and while the computor was off i connected to the router with a psp problem now sorted:cool: thanks for all help
