Two week until I get my car...
    oh no wrong forum.

Fajitas, I was thinking about getting a flash for my 350D, is the 580ex overkilll?
I like the idea of doing stroboscopic work with it and I don't think the other flashes offer it.

You can adjust the settings, so it won't be too powerful. And you may as well get the better flash.

You can use it throughout the Canon range, so if you upgrade, you can still use it.

    Go for it!!!

580 is expensive, but not overkill for anything. Very flexible in the way it points up down and all around. Very cool for bouncing off stuff (even the photographers face :-)

Thanks, I'm highly tempted. I'll see how the poor postgrad funds look after I pay my insurance.

    Merv.

Hate to go off topic but re the 580ex has anyone else had the experience of putting in a new set of batteries - shooting with exposure + 1 set on the flash unit (via the dial at the back) and have the recycle time increase gradually over a few hours from 4/5 seconds to be approx 3-4 minutes ?

That happened to me last week and when I finally took the batteries out they were very hot - (like too hot to hold in your hand kind of hot). Just wondering has that happened to anyone else ?
