Anyone help me with where I could get my Seagate 160g Ext HD repaired.

One day last week the fan just stopped, & now it doesn't fire up at all, although the power LED light comes on when I plug in, but its not recognised by the PC.

I see that there are a lot of new electronics/PC repair shops opened in the Parnell St area of Dublin - is this an option ?

As it cost Eur120 last , I don't want to spend more than that to fix, but at the same time I really do want to get all of my music & photos back !!

    Your advice welcome

If its the hard drive itself thats broken and not the External Caddy that its in, it'll cost you a lot more than €120 to repair it or recover the information. A company we were using in Wales quoted free diagnosis but £350 -£450 for repair/ recovery if they got the go ahead.
You best bet is to find a tech savy friend, get him to remove the drive from the external caddy and plug it directly into a computer and see does it show up in the Bios / windows.
