The one who got hit by the flagpole? I left minutes before it happened. Sounded crazy!

Pretty much it, really (Happened to be sitting literally 5 feet from the girl who got hit at the time) - drunken idiot tried to shimmy up the flagpole on the left (as you look at it from the cricket pitch) side of the Pav. Drunken idiot made it about 3/4 of the way up before the pole leant too far to one side and broke. The plastic part at the top that the halyards run through hit a girl square on the head. At first, she seemed fine and was laughing (to be honest, at first I was more worried about the guy, who was lying on the ground barely moving for the first short while), but then started going all pale and shaky and bleedy. She seemed OK when they hauled her off to the ambulance, but to be fair, it's hard to tell with a head wound.

While I hope neither of them are permanently injured and whatnot, I have to say that the whole thing was absolutely hilarious.

Aye, but he's only been studying for four years. You can do fierce damage with a band-aid without the proper training.

Some guy in the House 6 shop told me she's OK, broken jaw and a gaping head wound but nothing critical, but he was repeating what he heard from someone who heard from someone etc.

Ha - first hand source says she was chatting around a bit afterward when people were asking her how she was.. so that would debunk the broken jaw!

You also need a substantial bang to obtain a 'gaping head wound'; I split the back of my head open after falling twice my height (I was very young) and landing on breeze block! Wound was not 'gaping' though!

Will try and get more first hand info this Monday now that my curiosity is piqued!

Funny story.... now the flagpoles are gone!

I know the flagpole in question, it snapped again a few years ago with the head of the rowing team at the top before.....

I never climbed that flagpole, my choice was the other one.... climbed it too many times to be wise, there is always a 4 drink minimum for me.

The last time was when I got my final med results, I shimmied to the top and then was waving to everyone, including the Dean and the professor of surgery...... class..... they loved it......!!!

It's a sophisticated type of humour, try reading this thread again in a few years and see what you think then.

I could be dead by then. Possibly from a flag-pole to the head.

Any flag-pole anywhere in the world is a lethal weapon in the hands of drunken college students.
