I connected a hard drive from an old laptop to an East Ide and inserted it into the USB port of my PC. I can see that the drive is present and all drivers are running. I can see the percentage of the drive which has been used but I cannot see any of the files. When I autorun it says there are no files on the drive. Where am I going wrong?

If you don’t want anything off the hd I would just format the disk.
If not try using some recovery software “EasyRecovery.Professional”. is very
    good software I used it.

What operating system is the laptop running? What operating system was the hard drive originally plugged into?

I'd say it's a file system incompatibility tbh. Format & Go.

Yeah could be a file system incompatibility, one other item is where their any jumpers on the drive that had to be configured or for the enclosure maybe ?

Thanks for replies. I booted up an old PC running Win 98 and it could see the files perfectly. The reason I bought the EASY IDE was because I have several old machines lying around and I want to take copies of the hard disks before overwriting them and dumping them or using them for backup.
