Just out of curiousity does anybody know what the point of channels 481 & 482 on sky is? They're currently branded PPV1 & PPV2, they used to be Setanta Pay Per View 1 & 2... There has never been anything on them, always say that "programs are coming soon" on the EPG.... Was just wondering, seems like a waste of space to me...

There has been stuff on there. Cricket, boxing, wrestling and I believe Setanta have PPV rights to the upcoming UFC event in Manchester. Setanta obviously believe there is a reason for them and what space are the channels wasting?

Setanta also bought the rights for 46 Premiership PPV games next season, it will be replacing Sky's Prem plus.

Setanta have the rights to 46 matches - but not as PPV

These 46 games will be available on Freeview which is available to the UK only. No use to vast majority in Ireland.

I cannot find where and how any of these Premiership games will be broadcast on the Sky platform for UK and Ireland subscribers.

I am going to email Setanta again and try and get a definite answer. I asked before and the only reply was 'live premiership games will be available on Freeview from August'. I am not sure how to interpret the answer as I asked to confirm if these games will be available on Freeview, Sky or both.

I am in the UK and want the games available on the Sky platform also, as I am sure football fans in Ireland will also be expecting.

I'd be pretty sure that those games will also be on Sky. Setanta would be foolish not to, relying solely on Freeview, considering the rights weren't cheap.

    byte,
You are right. It would be foolish of Setanta not to provide on the Sky platform.

Could it be that Sky & Setanta are hatching a plan to provide a "Football" package (consisting of both SKYs & Setanta's games) on the Sky platform at a cost that would be more than the current Sky Sports subscriptions, but less than it currently costs to subscribe to both SKY Sports & Setanta ?

Setanta will be the pay per view provider for all UK based UFC pay per views. The first one will be in 2 weeks at the MEN arena in Manchester.

They do have Setanta Sports 1 and 2 on Sky Digital and cable. This is where they will be showing the games.

    Thank you Mossy!

I always seem to forget about cable.
