Why would you NOT want to buy one?
They are awesome, they allow you to play music, video, read ebooks, play"backups" and homebrew games.
Its not like they are illegal or anything:rolleyes:

So lets have less games so we don't get bored with our DS consoles and have them turn into PSPs?

    Your logic hurts my brain.

There is the possibility that you may just play a game, get stuck.. or just get another game and keep doing this, ending up getting confused.. like a kid in a candy store.. ~_~ thats what im scared off.. <_<

Can anyone tell me if any micro SD card is compatable with the R4, or is there some form of proprietary format?

    Theres a list of many different SD cards and how their faired here;

    http://wiki.gbatemp.net/index.php/Memory_Speed_Tests

From what I've read, they all seem to work fine. Some have problems running Castlevania; Dawn of Sorrow, but that's about it.

only really two games that have problems. castlevania portrait of ruin freezes on some memory cards and tony hawks downhill jam runs slow.

    99% work perfect.

Scummvm DS is also amazing. I have monkey island 2 and day of the tentacle on mine.

FYI, next version of firmware will have action replay support, so you'll be able to cheat your asses off (good for the games you're getting p'ed off with!).

Sorry about this but I've another question. The card that comes with the deal listed above from dealextreme; it's 1 Gb, so am I right in saying it's only 128 MB?? That seems pretty small, to me at least.

For those who have received it, have you had much issue with space on the card, or is it ample?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,571 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Nope, SD cards are measured in gigabytes, not gigabits, so a 1GB card is 1,024 megs.

I've got a 2GB SD card with about 50 games on it and about 15 tunes. Still have space left. Not sure how much tho. Given the choice it's well worth the extra few bob for the bigger card.

Micro SD cards dont seem expensive either. I think I'll be buying several once I get my r4

you can download a thing called a rom trimmer which deletes any unused space from the rom. it's good when you realise you are struggling to fit more games on. I save over 400 mb trimming my roms.
