Damp proofing painted wall

Hi, I'm thinking of coating an outside wall with sealant to prevent damp leaking through the wall. Unfortunately the outside wall is painted, and the standard sealant says can't go ontop of painted wall. Any suggestions? Can you get outside paint that also contains a sealant? thanks, J
