I'd like to say meteorite, and I'm probably right. I'm in leixlip and around 45 mins ago me and a few friends were hanging around, one of them spotted a flaming circular mass in the sky falling west, It was moving incredibly fast, leading me to believe that it was pretty close. i ran to see it between the trees and as i was watching it, the flame went out, I'm not sure what the hell it was but the friend who spotted it said (and another confirmed) that there was a green trail.

so what the hell, did anybody else see this?

I too saw the beast. Twer a hunderth score in body and nay a winthrop short o' a horses nay from breadth to bay. Best leave it lie for night. Twill need feeding in the moro. I suggest two hens warble fenders, a putty monocular and a squidgen of Morrison's mittlewockle to ease the steady brew to the beasts blackened heart. Hear me now boy, you make sure you and your brave fellows stand well back for when that Dicken's does wake it'll take more than Delilah McMillagoody's good daughter herself to keep a hould of it's raging horn!

In Tramore many years ago. I was in the back garden and saw a bright silver object ball-shaped with a bright flame and smoke, it fell to earth over the sea.

Something dropped from an aircraft I thought at the time. The south coast is/was used a lot by military aircraft.

    Mike.

I was cycling past the roundabout near glen easton in leixlip around the same time and I saw a light fall from the sky over towards the canal. It was falling fast, but it was too close to be an aircraft, but too slow to be a firework.

A shooting star is a falling meteorite.

True, but when I think shooting star I think something that doesn't reach earth as opposed to it just skimming past/burning up on the way in.

What hits the earth is called a meteorite, the falling star/shooting star itself is called a meteor.

Actually allow me to correct myself on that!
After further research the light trail itself is actually called the meteor and the bits of rock and dust that cause the light trail are meteoroids.

I never even heard of meteoroids, I think NASA are making it all up!!!;)
