    one thought that struck me is, (and a number of things have me thinking this way---1) how it is not easy to sail away from the island. 2) john locke's dad now on the island, and many more things i cant remember now......) are they all dead and in heaven, right now.

    Originally there were theories about them being in purgatory, but afaik those theories were discredited(can anyone comfirm?)

    tbh I don't think God has too much to do with Lost. I know religion has been in it a lot but I doubt the answer to the mysteries of the island is religious. Though one line has stuck in my mind from season 2 that Ben said while being held in the hatch by the Losties;

    "God can't see us..."

    or something to that effect. Kind of dark...

    Yeah they've squashed this theory about a thousand times now :D Though I don't think there's anything wrong with viewing the island as a metaphoric purgatory even if that's not literally the answer.

    I wouldn't be surprised if that was the origional idea (purgatory) but it was just denied because every single person thought that in season1!

    how are the writers going to explain how 'the others' know details about everyone. height, weight, married or not, family history, any illness and other details that are not known to anyone else.
    'the others' seem to know about everyone in that plane, they even know what their dads look like. how can the writers explain that?

    Well we've seen the kind of communication capabilities they have in the flame (I think its the flame). Once they have the names of all the passengers, all they need is someone from the outside world to send them all the info. Not that hard for a rich and powerful company I'd imagine...

    They do seem to have un-natural ties to the real world. It has to be a government run project, how else would they have gotten everyones life long files.

    Can't Private Investigators dig up this kind of information?
    Locke's PI got a fair bit of info on his biological parents...

    Yeah cept the statue is on one island and Sawyer and Kate were breaking rocks on another island!

    Ever heard of diamonds, Killaqueen? Then the chances are pretty high that you know somebody who wears rocks that came from another continent, nevermind a neighbouring island. Why wouldn't the statue be made of rock from the "Alcatraz" island?

    Anybody thinking the four-toed statue may just be a manifestation of the Black Smoke, or an apparition of some sort? This island has churned out Christian Shephard and Yemi on several occasions, nothing to stop the island creating a four-toed statue. Maybe Sayid amputated someone's toes while in the Republican Guard, and the smoke wanted to evoke some memory or emotion in him...

    So Jin and Sun were with Sayid in the Republican Guard too?

    I reckon that the four-toed thing has something to do with the people who were there before the others landed on. Why? Because the writers said so, I think...

    I agree with you point mate about the 4 toed statue being related to the race of people that lived on the Island before the Others landed. But you must remember that Ben was born on the Island. He is a descendant of the Island.

    Ben might be able to explain what it means or represents.
