This season is obviously building up to revealing who the Others are. And unlike last season which focused on hatches and buttons as the big mysteries, I feel this year is more about the people, these "others" and the mystery of their motivations. As such I think this series has remained very true to the spirit of Lost like we saw in the early first season.

I love the way the writers are bit by bit humanizing these figures who we previously viewed as villains. My favourite scene so far this season was the moment between Ben and Sawyer at the end of 3x04 when Ben revealed they were on another island. Great acting from Michael Emerson. I hate it when I hear people go on about Ben being so evil, I just see so many layers to his character. And I'm certain by the finale we'll discover Ben is actually a hero.

Yeah would love this also. Ben is a great character and as many have said before, he brings so many different views to the show. Would be nice to see the Island from his point of view as he was born there and not just how the losties see it.

Yea Lost was at its worst during season 2. It was during season 2 that the pace really dropped and everyone realised we were going to be drip fed the plot from then on. Having come to terms with that though season 3 has been generally very good.

    Really ??
you think that .. jeez I honestly think S2 was the best, especially from ep 10 - the finale, (except for 'Dave' -- which was the worst ep ever !!)

    Yeah,

Hurley’s imaginary friend, that was a poor ep but still funny in parts. As I said before, I think Season 3 is on par with Season 2.

I see what your all saying now about where season 3 is going but it's pretty obvious it's all about the Others so I presume there's going to be a llot more on them by the end of the series.

When you think about it, season 1 was very slow moving. They hadn't even opened ONE hatch by the end of season 1 and how long were they supposed to have been on the island? I loved season 1 - it was probably the best series, but you can't have the best of both worlds. People say they want answers yet now that things are getting a bit clearer in season 3 people are still complaining.

That kind of "all in your head" stuff just freaks me out.
Like in A Beautiful Mind. Although that was a good film.

It's a monument, to remember the ancient giants that used to walk the island :)

But seriously, i am kinda guessing that the writers will forget to ever include that again.

Yeah it seems like they just threw loads of random crap in just to confuse us with no intention of explaining any of it!!

Hmm. Seems as though my point is no longer valid. Let the countdown to the finale begin!

Oh man, that blooming foot... it's really baking my noodle! Surely it's relevant...

yeah i meant the foot, its gotta have something to do with the Islands past IMO, as in what was originally on the island and what may have drawn dharma/ the others/ people from the mainland to the island initially

Doug McClure has got to show up at some stage surely.

Agreed, but i really hope that the writers don't forget about it.

as far as i can remember, little things like that always turn back up,
remember the station with the cameras, and they pass notes in the tube, later you notice a lostie (kate I think) walking past a pile of tubes, they put them back in sooner or later

I can see Kate walking through the jungle and in a small opening there lies a giant shoe! The mystery further deepens.... :)

Seriously though, you think it is something to do with Bens Ancestors?

I think Lost has cornered itself, the flashbacks prevent alot of progress on the island but the flashbacks are entertaining. They are a little shallow but I'm sure someday someone will realise they know each other through previous encounters and give it much more depth.

    my 2 cents

Well several times that there have been crossovers before one or other of the two or more characters involved dies before they meet again. I'm thinking the crossovers are just there to make flashbacks a little bit more interesting, they're probably nothing more than easter eggs. Libby gave Desmond her boat, yet they never met on the island because she was shot by Michael in the same episode in which he returned. And Hurley could never figure out where he remembered her from either because he was nuts at the time.

Seriously, not in that way, but maybe in the way of some deity that was worshipped on the island by his ancestors... I can't imagine that there'd be only the foot left if the statue was only there a couple of decades.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,854 ✭✭✭Sinfonia

maybe they're building the statue, and that could be why sawyer and kate were breaking rocks

Yeah cept the statue is on one island and Sawyer and Kate were breaking rocks on another island!

I think it's something to do with the islands history as well...I can't tell what though, because what would a four-toed foot got to do with Dharma?..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,120 ✭✭✭✭Star Lord

It could be pre-Dharma, thats what I'm thinking, like I said, would be very strange if there was only a foot left after only a few decades!
