Jimmy Magee-"This young man is a fine cardplayer, his uncle of course was a legendary 5 card draw player who took many a punt off me, nowadays though its all about the teaxas holdthems on the interweb"

*FYI:100% of this quote may never have actually happened ;)

I heard Michael O'Muircheartaigh is going doing it for radio 1. He will be swinging alternatively between "an gaelige agus an bearla" when an exciting pot develops.

"Raise from the Unibomber from the cut-off. His father was Monaghan, his mother from Leitrim. Neither a Holdem stronghold. Folded to Antonio Esfandiari in the big blind. Esfandiari, an asarlai, ta braislead amhain aige, cad a dheanaidh se? He's pushed all-in! The unibomber calls! He flips over two queens! Ta na beanRi ag an unibomber. Ach ta na Ri ag an asarlai! Here comes the flop! We have a penalty in Cusack park in ennis. Its a penaly to Waterford and we're going to join Eddie Moroney"

Just finished 2 hours of commentating with Jesse May which was great fun. Unfortunately not a huge amount happened at the table so I dunno how much of it will make the 25 minutes they need from today. It was an experience to be there though and Jesse May really impressed me, he's a consumate professional.

    DeV.

Saw your name on table one alright did it affect your game in anyway like make you more nervous, have to say as my first main event it was just mad, but a great buzz for the 2 hours I lasted.

Yeah Pat, without a doubt. I walked in five minutes before the off just hoping to sit down and get going - then I was having to sign waivers and get miked up. It affects you in that the layout of the table is weird, it is uncomfortable having to place your cards and chips in certain places - etc, etc.

You also get less hands per hour and are playing eight handed. I bottled it a bit to be honest. Oh well, chalk it up to experience.

Glad you enjoyed it anyway mate.
Cheers Lloyd went home afterwards when i heard about the mad cash games that went on the night before look forward to seeing ya on the telly.

Nice work from halfbaked, cruised by his table a good few times yesterday and his stack looked pretty miserable, but he never panicked and his patience was rewarded.

I never knew that the Irish Open was played on a golf course.... Trust RTÉ to delay it....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,900 ✭✭✭✭Mellor

The Irish open is played on a golfcourse every year. ;);)

The Irish poker open, I think a golfcourse is too windy for that

They said around 11.35 that the poker will be on after this. Didn't give any indication when that'd be.

Meh, the suspense and longing to watch it will perhaps make seeing it better? Is that weird? I'm going to go now...

Feckers keep cutting to the studio which leaves me thinking their nearly finished.

Bit of a cold deck alright.

The coverage leaves a bit to be desired: the commentary team are babbling over each other and the graphics are horrible, hard to make out what suit the players hole cards are. Feel sorry for anyone not familiar with the game trying to make out what's going on.
