considering selling Joe? :), getting 6k for a ticket is better than the first 18 cashing places. Sell and play the $1000 event, and the GJP main event. +EV

The 2M prizepool is based on 600 entrants. If tickets are sold out and now fetch a higher price on the grey market. Surely that means that the maximum of 706 is reached or they're close to it (keeping spares for the supersatelite running today). I would hope that with 100 players more the prizepool goes up to over 2¼M?

Sure mathematically speaking selling for 6K is +EV. But then you're also losing the chance of winning 600K...

If 700 players entered, the prize pool stands at 2.31 Million
Assuming the payout scale is the same, 63 places then the winner nets €635,250

I was out in the Burlington, but didn't see anyone actually looking for a ticket or offering 6k.

I heard someone say that somebody was offering 10k.

I think its all chinese whispers, I'd sell mine for 6k.

so to cash he has to hit top 27. Moron. Wish tickets won online could be sold. Theres one born every minute

This is obviously just some guy with more money then sense who wants to be able to tell people that he spend 10k on a ticket to the Irish open.

    Absolutely ridiculous.

Normally I think people who sell tickets for above face value are scum but someone like that is literally asking to be ripped off.

most of the rumours are true, im just back from there.

theres over 80 people on the waiting list
this includes players such as aussie millions runner up jimmy fricke, he flew in to play, assuming he could just buy in

theres a host of scandies openly offering 6k for tickets
oberon sold the one he won on tues for what i imagine is approaching 8k

ive no doubt some will change hands tomorrow for 10k , they are like gold dust,

dan harrington just rocked up unannounced also

and i was watching esfandiari, devilfish, black, o dea and laak on a 25/50 cash table

I'd rather sell my ticket for that much and play several smaller buy-in tournies.
Although it would be fun to play with laak.

    Edit:
Jacques, what live games do you play in galway? I'd like to have a look at some more, as opposed to just the aces ones. Any good ones around?
You the guy who ran the tourney at itzacon one year?

Scum only really applies to people who gets tickets in advance with the intention to sell for profit.
But someboy who bought into the open with every intention of playing, and then solded the ticket to an offer of 7k+ is different altogether.

I'd love to play big games but my bankroll is only 1K and that means I'm sticking with 50 euro games for now.

I played at Itzacon I and fiinished 3rd (out of 16 I believe). I ran the the poker at Itzacon II. Although you could mistake me for Jim Neary, who organised it for I & III and was co-organiser for II. During Itzacon III both my colleagues were away so I had to work all weekend and couldn't attend. :(

    As for games I play:

Monday 9pm; 25 freezeout; well-organised rakeless home game with 12-week league; 8 to 12 players each week; ring me for the address: 086-3471879; pretty tough game (I'm only 37% ITM & 19% ROI over 30 games) but a perfect atmosphere and small dealer's choice cash game when knocked out.

Thursday 8:30pm; 25+5 rebuy; 10 to 14 players each week; Corrib Casino, 11 Forster Street, Eyre Square; bit of a gambling fest before the break but beatable.

Friday 8:30pm; 50+5 freezeout; usually with added scalps paid by the house; 10 to 14 players each week; Corrib Casino, 11 Forster Street, Eyre Square; good game. *NOTE: tonight instead of yesterday because they were closed Good Friday*

Other good games are the freeze-outs in the four aces and of-course Wednesdays in the Westwood hotel, but I personally hardly ever play in any of those (although I'm planning to play more).

Oh right, it was a bit of a guess anyhow! I just played at one that was 20 in and when it got to the last two split it.
Since I am just guessing, I wioll guess some more, I think jim neary would have been the older looser organiser and jacques the tight one. I just remember that game because it was 20 in and I only had 20e to my name being a poor student and all.

What's the league for, just to see who does best?
    That one sounds quite interesting.

I've only walked by there before, must give it a look.
I've just been playing the 30+5, 15 rebuy, 5+5, 10 rebuy etc in the aces.
Westwood costs too much yet. Some of those corrib ones look good. I would like a decently(cheap) priced freezout. 50+5 wouldn't be too bad.
    Thanks.

That would be Itzacon II indeed, I remember that. And yes, Jim is the older and loser organiser (typo oops :D) Last Monday I was knocked out early for a change and playing dealer's choice in the other room. So from the poker room someone shouts out "jacQues how tight are you?" Promptly one of the other players playing dealer's choice shouts back "Let's bend him over and find out." ;)

I still think its absolutely stupendous when they advertise their "freeroll"... 5+5 to enter... Then last Saturday I try their 55+10 (though incorrectly advertised as 60+5) freezeout. 10K starting chips. The owner actually told me "yes, its a very good structure." Then I saw that the first blind level is 50-100.

    Talking structures:
Monday game: 125 BBs, 10 hand levels for 4 levels, then 15 hand levels.
Thursday game: 70 BBs, 15 minute levels, break after 4 levels/1 hour.
Friday game: 110 BBs, 20 minute levels.

If you value a ticket at 10k (doesn't matter if you bought one for 10k, or refused to sell yours for 9900, either way implies you value it at 10k),

then if you are playing the Irish Open and on the very first hand all the other players on your table go all in, you are in the big blind and you pick up AA, should you call?

If everyone went all-in; yes absolutely!

However, if one person folded its a fix and you should fold immediately!

I like this question. I guess since your equity in the tournament is the same whether you pay 10K or 3.5K then you value the "experience" at 6.5K and you have to decide whether your +EV with the AA sufficiently balances that out.

Then again, perhaps you value the ticket at 10K because you feel your edge is THAT big, in which case it's probably a fold.
