    I have a Viewsonic VG500 LCD.
If I buy a PS3 will I be able to use my monitor with it for playing games?

check the connectivity options, i dont have a ps3 no idea but think it got hdmi,
so if your monitor got a dvi just buy a dvi to hdmi cable, actually i got one lying aorund...

It needs to be HDCP compatible i believe.

I think any monitor will work for a Sony Playstation.

be very careful what monitor you have or buy to get it working on PS3

    1) No not every monitor will work with ps3, it must be hdcp compliant, otherwise forget it

    2) theres 2 types of hdmi/dvi connections out there, either dual link or single link again depends on what monitor you have i have this one http://www.samsung.com/Products/Monitor/LCD_Digital/LS19DOWSSXAA.asp, which is hdcp compliant yet wouldnt setup on the hdmi/dvi dual link cable, have ordered a single link cable now to see if that works, again if you do your research some say only dual link will work others say single link will work, just depends on your monitor tbh

Ive had the ps3 since launch and have yet to get it working properly on the monitor i have, although i do have it running at 720p and 60 hz refresh rate on a component HD cable which is well ****e
