I have worked in a shop for two years and always work every Sunday. The extra few bob comes in handy. Lately, however I'm just browned off with it and want to opt out of Sundays. My union tells me I can do this but it has to be for personal/family reasons. If I just make something up, can my employer demand proof that it's true? :o Anybody have any ideas of a plausible reason I could come up with? (I don't know if "I'm sick of f-ing Sundays" is valid enough!)

Karyn - if your employer has employed you specifically to work on Sundays, then there is little you can do as that is what you have been contracted to do. However, if they are a large employer, you could request a move to another shift/roster.
