am very happy with those - considering they're the entire contents of the three rolls i took, bar one blown exposure.
they tail off a bit in the final third, light was a bit harsh outside and i was finding it harder to find things to photograph.

    comments welcome.

What kit did you use for those shots, the DoF is wonderful.

Very nice. I like the first one, I think elven has a couple of similar ones that I really liked, very abstract. I think I can see what you were going for on the 4th one but I think it probably could have benefitted from being stopped down a stop or two more. just to get more of the edge of the leaf into sharp relief. Some good ones on the full set, good to see the obligatory squirrel shot (do they actually run UP to photographers or something ?). I like the saturation and the colors on practically all of them, which film were you using ?

most of them were taken with a 50mm f2 macro, olympus OM4Ti. other lens was a 24mm f2.8
all taken on velvia; first roll 50ASA, second two 100ASA.

i don't think there was anyone there that day who wasn't a photographer, so their choice was limited.

You've some great lighting as well, for sure. The 400D and most of my lenses have awful problems with highlights. Give me a dammed spot meter already. :[

As soon as I looked at them I knew they were film. They're really beautiful compositions... and I mean that!

cheers - i've been a sensia user till now, but since it's getting damn expensive for prepaid, i'm playing with other films. the velvia is almost too punchy, it swamped the scanner a couple of times; e.g. the reds are blown in this one, it's killed some definition in the original:

Very nice, lovely dof and the saturation is spot on too! Gonna get my hands on some Velvia and maybe something macro..

Great stuff! Reds are a digital problem, whether scanned or otherwise, so It's not really the film. I bet on the original slide the reds are sumptious.

Frickin gorgeous. The first two blew me away :)

Also liking the shots of the old glasshouse that you've got on the site there - I haven't been able to make anything decent of that at all, despite numerous attempts :(

I take it you had to use a tripod with the velvia 50...? Did you scan them yourself? Where did you get them processed? Sorry for the barrage of questions!

nope, it was bright enough to handhold, but there are some shots where a tripod would have come in handy, where the depth of field is just a bit too shallow.
scanned them myself, got them processed in the fuji centre on lower abbey street; €6.50 per roll, dev and cut to 6.

They're really something. Agreeing with everyone here.

Now I'm not film bound for every shot I'm planning on getting some nice film to play around with. Velvia is top of the list, even more so now :)
