A few people have advised me against using polished marble in a kitchen as it will scratch and show traffic marks after a while. They say a honed finish is best for the kitchen. I'm sure that quality marble would wear well.
Personally, I wouldn't go for a polished finish.
Spillages could lead to a nasty accident.
