Problem with D50

    Hi All,

Hopefully someone will have the answer to my problem.

I have a Nikon D50 and I am having a few issues at the moment.
When I try a take a photo, the camera only takes a photo every third or fourth go. On each of the other occasions, it appears to go into continuous burst mode, but it does not take a photo.

I hope it is only a setting, but I have been unable to find which one.

Is anyone familiar with an issue of this description?

    Thanks,

    Jason

Sorry to repeat my plea, but has anyone got any ideas as to what might be wrong?

It takes a burst and then stops? The buffer could be full and it may need time to write to the card to free up space. The autofocus may be on 'one shot' or whatever the Nikon equiv may be and will not shoot if it can't achieve focus lock.
It could be shagged, but before you go down that route is there an option to "reset to factory settings" or something in the custom functions in case that you may have changed something there?

Do you have an icon like three little rectangles on top of each other visible in the status LCD? If so, press the button on the top left with the same icon on it and rotate the command dial one click in either direction.

Yup, what he said. You have a choice between single shot, timed shot or continuous shooting. The button faces out from the back, on the left of the eye piece.

Well, all thats true for my D70s which is pretty much the same. Make sure it says "S" for single and try again. Turn off autofocus as it might be searching for a focus point.

If all that fails check out the camera factory reset procedure on page 120 of the Nikon D50 Manual. This should reset all settings including the clock. Oh yea never have a memory card in the camera while doing this.

    Seb.

    Thanks for the replies.

I have tried both the continuous burst mode and the single shot, but the same problem occurs with both settings.

I will try the auto-focus and the factory reset options and let you know how I get on.

    Thanks again.
