playing the €375 satellite to the WSOP on saturday and it's level 2/3? with blinds at 30/60 utg min-raises I call for 90 from the SB with 66 stacks about 2000 with very little intention to play the hand any futher unless I hit a six bb calls

flop comes K 9 4 r and is checked around

turn comes 6 putting two spades on the board I lead for half the pot hoping that it looks like a late CB utg raises to 720 and I shove he has KK and I'm gone

as there is only two hands ahead of me was there any getting away from this

mods if you think this deserves to be in the BB sticky feel free

you have taken more time posting in this thread than it took you to read it. I am relatively new to the game and was disappointed that I had spent 6 hours qualifying for a tournament that I exited in 30 minutes. So rather than berate myself I asked a question only to have someone I have never seen post on this forum attempt sarcasm with the finesse of a boar, are you twelve?

does it matter who i am, prob was too harsh, just pointless reading a hand were it set over set and asks if theres anything he could do. Hes just looking for a few uls etc. Is that the most interesting hand you can think of to post? you obviously know the answer to your origional question

how the **** do you know what I was expecting from this thread?

It's fine for new players to post these kind of hands when they genuinely didn't know whether or not they played it well. I presume the OP isn't used to playing in $300+ tournaments, and probably thought that maybe in a bigger buy-in tournament the standard was much better than what they're used to.

This was just the Poker gods giving you a kick in the balls, and should have been posted in the BB thread, but I'm sure we can forgive this one infraction.

Now can we put away the hand bags ladies??

I was asking a question to which I was fairly sure of the answer which was why the topic was titled as such and why I said

mods if you think this deserves to be in the BB sticky feel free

    in the opening post

Scouser you were unlucky that he also had a set. Set over set is one of the hazzards of poker... U loose your money.....full stop.

Maybe you could have posted this in the BB section but not to worry...

Its very hard to know what the BB was thinking of with the size of his raise. You were ul of course but did you try to put him on a hand - if you did the 3 choices imho would have been AK (poss with a flush draw if K on board wasnt a spade) KK or AA.
U could have folded but I prob would have pushed also.

ok cheers I have no issue as such with going out set over set but my the reason I checked myself afterwards was firstly I couldn't work out what his bet was representing and secondly because I don't know what hand raises utg checks the flop raises the turn and calls an all in that I am beating

does my shove not force every hand I beat to fold and leave me in the position that I only get called by a better set.

If the opponent here has tptk for instance am I not better calling his raise with 1200 or so behind and allow him to bluff or even value bet the river?

Hi actions represented clearly that he is a muppet. Hard luck, no avoiding it. Can't be arsed to move t to the BB sticky, fine here.

Theres a flush draw here if you just call hes re-raise and a spade comes on the river you have a very hard decision. Auto ship dont even think about it. Youll get called here by AK, 2 pair, lower set and flush draw more often than youll be called by a higher set. Its a waste of time reviewing this hand, you played it grand, UTG played terrible and was lucky not to get stacked this time.
