Matched memory

I'm building a new machine buying the bits from Hardwareversand. Core 2 duo with 2 gb pc6400. They haven't got any matched pairs of memory in stock but they have the same sticks for sale singly - is it the same thing or when you buy a matched pair is there something special about it.
