Disintegrating rising main... advice?

    Hi,

I was told by a plumber that the rising main, which is about 30 years old by now (black plastic LDPE type), is very slowly disintegrating, and has most likely even sprung a leak under the driveway somewhere. I have experienced black particles in the water for ages now too, even muck around the old washing machine.
How much would it cost, and how awkward would it be to replace the rising main from the street to the attic tank, and does anyone specialise in it (Dublin area)? I doubt its a job most plumbers would undertake.

might be easier and less disruptive to run a new one, the existing one will probably go direclty under the house...probably easier at this stage to go around the back etc...

The council will do a test to deteremine if there is a pressure drop at their side or yours..maybe there is a leak/break on their end?
