Yesterday while driving i noticed an unusual icon in my tachomoter display it looks like this: (!), i checked the manual and it tells me this indicates a fault in the tyre pressure control system and of course reccomends i take it to my friendly neighbourhood opel dealer!! now i know all they are going to do is hook it up to their diagnostics equipment and reset the fault while charging me through the nose for the privilege!!!
Is there anything i can do myself? any advice appreciated

Don't always assume the worst. I had a similar problem with a Vectra a few years back and the dealer checked it out, found a fault which he said should not have happened and replaced the offending item free of charge.

Exactly. Never had them charge for putting it on the diagnostic. If they find something they'll let you know first before proceeding with the work to see what you want to do about it
