    Hey

Wondering if anyone can help me out. My grandma has broadband access and a wireless setup with router. She doesnt have a laptop or anything yet. So I was wondering that it may be easier for her to have something simple. So I thought the wii might suffice. As she could switch from Corrie to internet shopping. You see I was wondering whether the wii comes with the browser on board and wireless??? Is it easy to use, can you get a wireless keyboard for it??

    Please provide info

    Thanks

The Wii has built in Wireless, but you need to download the browser from the Wii shop, its free.

There is no keyboard, instead a keyboard is on screen and you just point and click the keys with the Wiimote.

In theory its easy to use and to settup, but my wireless settup was acting up at bit but seems OK now.

The Wii has built in Wireless, but you need to download the browser from the Wii shop, its free.

    Its free for now.....

The browser is free at the moment from Opera but they will be charging for it in the near future.

So when they start to charge for it, you will ahve to buy it from the Wii store using Wii points. You can pick up 2000 Wii points for around €20 in a Game store or the like.

Fianl price has not been confirmed yet as far as I know.

Also how big is the telly yore granny has? And what wil she be using the net for?

Get a cheap 2nd hand laptop on boards... It'd be much much easier to use... Buying a Wii for internet use dont make sense.

The full version of the browser is out in april and will be free to download till june. I just connected my wii to the internet yesterday and have found it incredibly easy to use, the onscreen keyboard is particularly nice to use i find.

I gotta agree. A Wii might give trouble, from what I've heard

Yeah sometimes i get redirected to a page i was on a few minutes previous. I'd recommend a laptop - teh wii is user friendly but it's not really intended for just surfing the net. You'd probs be better off with a cheap pc or a laptop (then she can watch her programmes and surf the net at the same time. sorted.)
