Looks like a good deal as they have them on argos.co.uk for £200. I was on the look out for a cheap one and will be picking one of these up tomorrow.
    Cheers

Have just read a lot of reviews and the noise of the ISO level seems the only complaint. I will still purchase and report back!!

got a panasonic fz7 recently, 6mp with longer zoom. there is more noise specially in blue channel than other cameras i've had, even at lowest iso it is noticable, otherwise no complaint. movie mode excellent, optics great, image stabilization works well

Er, it's not half price. It's £50 pounds off (well, whatever that is in euro). See here: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5606540.htm

    It's the 6MP FX01 that's half price not the 7MP FX07.

    Hi Dec04,

Looked in the catologue and the latest price magazine and don't see this camera anywhere in Argos.

It's in their clearance range , window display of clearance items in St Stephens Green (they had 2 left on Friday) and also available in Mary St (3 left) tho' no sign in latter. You needed their code 560/5211 to check. Not sure of availability elsewhere...

I was very tempted but found, after doing a bit of research, that the Fujifilm Finepix F30 (or F31fd) pretty much outperforms it (and won a couple of awards last year). It costs a bit more but after comparing sample images from both I reckon I'd be kicking myself later if I went for this one just because it's on offer.

The F30 produces sharper images and has amazing low light performance (flash range of up to 21 feet) - great for nights out! It also shows a lot more detail in shaded areas. It costs €300 in Argos/Peats at the minute... or can be bought online from a number UK shops for around £140stg (I haven't checked if these shops export to Ireland, though).

BTW - A new model (the F40) is due out in a couple of days - so we may see price reductions on the old one.

I'm knackered... apologies if I'm incoherent. Goodnight.

Another review site is Steves Digicams.
American site so model numbers can be slightly different but review (his conclusions) for Fuji here.
Great review for the Fuji alright so will be keeping an eye out for this as well!

FWIW, I bought a PANASONIC Lumix DMC-FX03 last year and am very happy with it.
