I have been keeping an eye on this board since airsoft became allowed in Ireland. When I saw the thread stating a ban might be on the way I searched the web and bought a aeg.
It only cost me 75 euro including postage and a jar of ammo,so not sure if it is a clone or one like ye all have. But what I have seen of yer guns they usually cost alot more.
I am in Cork are there any other airsofters down this way?
I got it just to see what my aim was like and if a group ever got togeather down hear I could join in or whatever.

congrats on your first purchase, you'll soon be wanting more no doubt

    what aeg did you get?

for 75 euro its gonna be a clone, but nothing wrong with that

post a link to it if you have one.

    Thanks for the respect.
It is an m83 it came with add ons such as,flash light, red dot sight, handle, saftey glasses, handle, silencer, battery and charger.
The battery was allready installed and charged so it was ready for use straight away.
I got the link to the site in a thread here so I'll have a look for it as the reciept says their trading name.

I dunno about that gun tbh man...not gonna say anything till you get it tho.

Well for a first AEG, and considering there are no skirmish sites anywhere near you (yet), I think it's fine. Probably all plastic, and on the lower end of the power scale, but still fun around the back garden and in the house.

Just be careful with it and stay safe....goggles should be worn at all times, even when just playing around at home.

Great price too, so if you end up not liking airsoft, at least you haven't wasted hundreds of euro.

Great to hear that there is another airsofter in Ireland althought the onyl thing i will say seening as it will be a clone do not use the bbs that are being sent with it because they are probably a very low grade bb and may damage your gun. Just check and make sure that they are perfectly smooth:)

also, those extras could be used with other airsofts if you upgrade later

Hi welcome to the group. My first AEG was a DE SIG552 and it was the real low end. But it got me interested and it was great fun. Came with all the extras yours came with and when I got my MP5K I used some of the extras on it. Any way best of luck, have funa and be safe.

Check out this thread Details on how to build your own chrono. I tried it and it did work but the results varied. But it might give you an idea of your AEG's power. If its anything like the DE SIG552 I got last year(my first AEG) it will be around .5J. If you try it let us know how you go.

This website seems to no longer exist. BEWARE, as my son has recently ordered (and paid in full with the help of his not so online aware dad and paypal) £75.00 of guns almost 3 weeks ago from this site with no delivery. Delivery was stated to be 3-5 working days. We have emailed and called the phone numbers several times with no reply and have now raised a dispute with paypal, as it seems obvious we have been scammed URGH!

    ouch, sorry to hear...

you've probably already done this, but if not, get onto your bank straight away and get them to cancel the payment, if it's not too late, they may be able to reverse the funds, not sure if this is possible or not though. failing that then you may get your money back after about a month or so

Edit: oh and dont let this put you off, unfortunately scams do happen online, but generally it's the exception rather than the rule

Thanks I hope so too. :)

It was my hubby who caved in to our sons nagging one night, and hes a bit of a noob when it comes to the net lol! I knew nothing about it at the time. I like to think if it was me ordering I would have checked things out properly, as I have ordered many things online before with no problems at all. :)

Yes thanks kdouglas :) As its paypal, I cant get the money back unless paypal choose to refund us after an investigation, so time will tell, although I'm not hopeful.

Normally I would pay direct by credit card which insures against these things, but this time the credit card paid paypal.

I just did a search and the site seems to have been hacked. There was a thread about it on here a little while ago (which i seem to have totally missed)

If you need a list of reputable airsoft dealers once you get this sorted with paypal, I'm sure we could help you out.

(Although I doubt if hacking would explain the non answering of mails and phone calls made to the supplier.)

Maybe their paypal account was stolen along with the website being messed up. All their funds would have been taken, leaving them no money to refund customers. This may explain the lack of replies!

    All just speculation mind you.

If you bought through paypal then your credit card company should insure 100% for internet purchases. Had a similar problem last summer. One phone call and it was all sorted.

Paypal are pretty decent with handling disputes. And any company that cons customers would quickly lose their Paypal services which would only hurt them.

It may take a few weeks, but I'm sure you'll get a refund (minus the 3 point something paypal standard fee).

Actually, paypal kept nagging me for details and print outs/scans of things before they'd give a refund. Annoyed with all the fuss I just contacted the credit card company and they refunded a week later no questions asked.

Not saying that's the way to do it mind you..happened to work for me though.

Nagging still works. im in the process of nagging my man into letting me buy a car ( along the lines of bmw m3 convertable/skyline/supra) in her name that she will be insured on so that i can drive it and get insured.

    Its working too.

The thought of you getting a car that goes 140mph+ scares the hell outta me. Let me know where you're driving in advance, so I can avoid that area completely. :p

All the armalite magazines are interchangeable. Depends more on what brand of AEG he's actually buying.

that gun is gonna break soon and i would recommend an JG gun as a replacement bcos its a quality TM clone, cheap and powerful cos it goes at 350FPS for every gun. the M16A4 looks kickass.

350FPS would class it as a firearm and therefor require a license. To keep it legal it needs to 1J which is in and around 328fps.I know it does not sound like much but this is what we have to work with. I have never been there but I think HRTA would not allow an AEG firing at 350fps to be used. But the JG are good guns. Some of the members here have even gotten the supplier to downgrade them. As far as I know Keith on RSOV will do this service but you would need to ask him to make sure.

Yup...not allowed at HRTA or Predator. AEG's are chronographed before games begin to ensure they are <= 1 joule.

but the question is, what does an aeg advertised as 350fps really fire at?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 969 ✭✭✭MaxForce

For truth. I know the AEG will reduce in power after a while but by how much? And how many rounds through it would it take to "break in" the spring?

But as said on another thread, if the AEG is stoped and tested by Customs (Just for argument sake) and it's packaging and manufacturer information says it fires at 350fps I would imagine it would be seized.

Not to mention that you're technically importing a fully automatic firearm. I know it sounds ridiculous but it's true. I wonder what prison sentence goes with that?

mandatory, as in no time off for good behaviour etc

though, if theyre treating mandatory firamarms offences the same as with drug offences, it means feck all :(

Well in this case it means that if you convicted the judge has no choice but ti give you a jail sentence.

Before the changes that made airsoft leagal the judge could have taken in to account hat it was a toy/pellet gun and that being a bit over the 1J isnt exactly a terrorist act and let ya off with a slap on the writst.
