    Was knocked off my bike today.

    Don't want to say much in case it goes further.

    <rant>
    All I can say is when people are letting passengers out of cars they should pull into the side of the road so people on bikes can't pass on the inside instead of letting people jump out when in traffic.
    <rant over>

    Doctor sent me for x rays for suspect broken bone(s). None thank god but have to go back on Monday to see after swelling goes down to see if other damage down and if i require physio

    Sorry to hear that, not much you could have done to prevent that by the sound of it.

    A lesson I have learned after my off in January is that all you''ll get out of a doctor is "soft tissue damage" and a prescription for anti inflamitaries plus pain killers. I'd advise you to go directly to a physio if you suspect ligament or tendon damage.

    Hope you'll have a speedy recovery.

    Was it a push bike or motor bike?

    bloody idiots allowed on the road, if they actually just let the people who knew how to drive there would be little to none accidents on the road :|

    Hope it all goes your way in the end. This is why I prefer to overtake than undertake but yeah, this could happen anytime in the blink of an eye.

    For this exact reason I had an argument this week with a motorist.
    To avoid "dooring" I always allow 1 mt between myself and the parked cars.

    I try to maintain a goodly distance as well, but sometimes motorists (being human) make abrupt decisions when it's a bit too late (or there's little room to manoeuvre). You know the usual "do you want to get out here?"... "No... actually yeah here is perfect, right on the corner there?" *car judders to a halt*

    Still haven't been doored, but I'm half-expecting it someday. :rolleyes:

    It aint nice zynaps.

    You can just see the door opening and you know you are fcuked as there is nothing you can do.

    You just hope you are not going to be hurt much

    that's my one abiding memory of this crash, that horrible moment when you see the door opening, something you're always half expecting as a cyclist, and knowing there's no way to avoid it..

    In Holland, the respect for bicycles is tested when you try to get your driving license. Before you turn/stop at corners, etc the examinator will appraise if you have watched for any bicycle that may be on your side. And if there is an accident between a bike and a car, the car is blamed by law.
