I've got a few ingrown hairs on my stomach and they get infected from time to time.

They are embarrassing and sometimes sore due to infection, but I don't know what to do with them..

    Has anyone got any suggestions?

Ingrown hairs are caused when the hair is broken off under the skin/waxed/plucked etc and so when the hair begins to grow it does so under the skin. The way I prevent ingrown hairs is to exfoiliate every day. However don't this this if it is already infected as it will make it worse. Also never pluck/wax after a shower because you will get ingrowns if you are already susceptible to them.

I'm not sure how to stop the infection but I would say savlon or something like that and you will also have to squeeze out the ingrown hair to stop it being reinfected. There are lotions you can put on when you wax/pluck hairs to prevent them from becoming ingrown - I use one on my legs so if you want the name let me know -- i think you can only get in the states if you don't know a beautician. Let me know anyway and I will get the name - just can't remember it off the top of my head.

btw - some people just seem to get ingrowns and other don't - if you try the above and its doesn't work to stop the problem why don't you just bleach them if they are dark instead of plucking.

You should keep an eye where you know you get ingrowns and if one is starting to be ingown just squeeze it out!!! (Sorry I know this sounds a bit gross)
