Garage Attic Space conversion

    Hello,

I am about to embark on converting the attic space above my garage. I live in a housing state whereby when buying the house it was an option to have this done however at the time I chose not to.

As you can see from the pic it will need to be a dormer window to the front in order to have same as the other houses in the estate.
Would i be right in saying that I will still require planning persmission for this?

Secondly as I will be carrying out the work myself will I need to get a building surveyor to check the completed conversion in order to be issued with a cert of compliance?

    Many thanks for your help.

Yes you will need to apply for planning permission.
And unless you are looking for a morgage, then a cert won't br required for an extension.

But it will be required if the OP wishes to sell or even mortgage the property at a later date.
