    Hi
    I would suggest downloading FireFox because alot of spyware and adware (virus in general) are aimed at MS Explorer. If you cannot get access to the internet on your laptop, get a mate from college to download it onto a CD and install it from there. FireFox is probaly the best browser out there. Good luck!!

    lol, I do this a lot in work... and boy it irritates people :D

    client - "i'm having a problem with Outlook"
    me - "i'll install thunderbird for you then"
    client - "i'm also having a problem with IE"
    me - "firefox it is"
    client - "MS office is giving me problems"
    me - "Open Office should be installed now"

    then comes the plethora of complaints about their settings and icons and how much they love MS... i'm actually thinking of installing folding@home on all the PCs to have them doing something usefull while they are idling every night.

    Back OT: OP, it might help if you could let us know what the website you where browsing was that caused this error to pop up.

    Rather than sending Actor the logfile post it up here so you get a more responses and people coming to this thread later can learn some more.

    A sign of someone who isn't able to do their support job properly.

    your idea is good in theory irlrobins, it's just HijackThis can be extremely dangerous in the wrong hands. If the OP decides to listen to somebody's advice who doesn't know how to use HijackThis properly( I've went under training for it) or if somebody decides to copy any results that I give to the OP( that may not be suitable to their own pc) then they both could possibly wreck their pc.

    But I see your point, just hope people are careful when using HijackThis. Post the log here when you can OP :)

    The obvious problem being that the OP doesn't know you are any good with HijackThis either. In that case posting it makes sense, because if more than one person agrees on what should be changed, there is less of a chance of it being wrong.

    hehe true, but I can show the OP that I've done training on SpywareInfo.com which has a pretty good "Boot Camp". Just gotta be careful with HJT, its so easy to make a mistake that would hurt a pc, even if your trained or not.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,541 ✭✭✭irlrobins

    training on SpywareInfo.com which has a pretty good "Boot Camp".
    I had visions of certified courses, exams etc. Disappointed to see it's just a online forum.... much like what we have here :rolleyes:

    haha sorry to disappoint, however its training in pc security is excellent, and quite known throughout the community. ive fixed so many HJT logs and never had a problem yet despite how bad they have been :)

    they do give an exam once your training is done before you become a full time helper on their site. It is volunteer also, so can only expect so much

    well anybody any advice based on the above?this windows is restarting is constantly happening,very annoying

    You may want to save this reply in notepad on your desktop since you will have to close your web browser when doing this.

    The first thing we need to do is disable Windows Defender so it doesn't stop us doing these steps, this is how :
    * Open Windows Defender
    * Click Tools
    * Click General Settings
    * Scroll down to Real Time Protection Options
    * Uncheck Turn on Real Time Protection (recommended)
    * After you uncheck this, click on the Save button
    * Close Windows Defender

    Run HijackThis, click "Do a system scan only", and put a mark in the boxes to the left of these entries :

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {A6ACAE64-F798-4930-AD86-BD3FB32038DB} - C:\Program Files\Video Access ActiveX Object\isadd.dll (file missing)
    O3 - Toolbar: Protection Bar - {84938242-5C5B-4A55-B6B9-A1507543B418} - C:\Program Files\Video Access ActiveX Object\iesplugin.dll
    O4 - HKLM\..\Policies\Explorer\Run: [user32.dll] C:\Program Files\Video Access ActiveX Object\isamntr.exe
    O13 - Gopher Prefix:
    O22 - SharedTaskScheduler: hemine - {9d6fac42-a7be-4702-87ef-75d8dc14249e} - C:\Windows\system32\tahxqcj.dll

    Here's An Optional Fix with information about it below, if you want to get rid of it then put a tick beside it also :
    O2 - BHO: Megaupload Toolbar - {4E7BD74F-2B8D-469E-CCB0-B130EEDBE97C} - C:\PROGRA~1\MEGAUP~1\MEGAUP~1.DLL

    This toolbar may exchange data with Alexa in order to provide: (a) information to
    you about the web pages you view (ranking information, for example) and (b) basic information to alexa on your use of
    the toolbar, including the ip address of your computer, the url of the web pages you visit and, because the toolbar
    communicates via http, data typical of normal http communications such as user agent and operating system, will be
    communicated.". This isn't necessarily considered spyware, but you may not want it reporting on your browsing habits and
    other information.

    Now close all windows except for HijackThis, and click "Fix checked".

    You then should go to C:\Program Files and delete the "Video Access ActiveX Object" folder.

    Now we need to re-enable Windows Defender, to do this :
    * Open Windows Defender
    * Click Tools
    * Click General Settings
    * Scroll down to Real Time Protection Options
    * Check Turn on Real Time Protection (recommended)
    * After you uncheck this, click on the Save button
    * Close Windows Defender

    Now reboot your pc, and send a new HijackThis log, and tell me how your pc is running and if you have any problems.

    I'm not sure which anti-spyware programs would work well with Windows Vista, I recommend getting AVG anti-spyware whenever its compatible. I can't find much information about SpywareLocked, I get the impression its not a legit spyware removal program(gives false positives), can you tell me anything about it? You may want to consider removing it.

    Maybe I could get your opinion also Blowfish? In case I missed anything..

    There's just one more thing for us to do, its concerning SpywareLocked which seems to be a bad program.

    Can you go to Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > Remove SpywareLocked

    Then go to C:\Program Files and delete the SpywareLocked folder. Then empty your recycle bin.

    Did you download this program yourself? Also have you downloaded any codecs lately?

    Tell me how all this goes, and if you have any problems. Also can you keep an eye on your pc and tell me if SpywareLocked returns at a future point(which it might do). Please answer the question concerning codecs, and post a new HijackThis log when you done all this.

    Also, you have 2 AntiVirus programs running. Dump either AVG or Norton.

    Also, you have 2 AntiVirus programs running. Dump either AVG or Norton.
    Hard choice there :p

    Op having 2 antivirus programs running serioulsy slows your computer and can cause it to crash and become unresponsive. I would recommend you uninstall norton antivirus as it is a resource hog and generally not a good program, Im sure many others will agree with me when i say that avg does the job just fine and uses far less resources,

    Apparently I'm the only person in the world/on boards who doesn't get affected by all this spyware/virus' that seem to attack IE.
