I'm new to homebrewing and after the success of my first batch (Weissbier) i'm going to try a lager next week. I have come up with the following recipe. Any suggestions/comments would be welcome.

2 cans of Muntons continental lager
    150g crystal malt
    300g golden syrup
    50g Hallertaur hops
    Saflager yeast

Malt and 25g hops boiled for 30 mins in water. Second 25g hops added and boiled for 10 mins more. Added to fermenter with lager kits and golden syrup.
    Fermented at 13C.

    Hi,
The recipe looks fine. The golden syrup should lighten the body quite nicely, the crystal will give it a nice fresh grain flavour, while the extra hops will add some hop aroma and flavour.
The only thing I would worry about is the fermentation temperature. Are you equipped to ferment this beer at 13C? Most people who successfully brew good lager at home, have a fridge which has been adapted with a new thermostat, to keep the beer down to lager fermentation temperatures.
If you do not have a way of keeping the fermenting beer down to 10C-13C, I would use a clean ale yeast, like Gervin English Ale yeast, Danstar Nottingham, or Safale US-05 (aka US-56).

Thanks for that. I don't have a fridge but i will be fermenting the beer in a cellar that is a constant 12C so i am hoping this should keep it cool enough. I may get an ice bath if the temperature of the beer starts to rise.
