    Folks,
I hooked up my PS3 to HD ready tv at last with the help of an adaptor as my tv has a DVI socket only.

Anyway i now have great HD picture but no sound.

Does the old AV cable still have to be hooked up in order to get the sound operating?

There is not much help in the manual and the tv seems unable to adjust to any changes too?

DVI is for video only, so you are going to have to output the sound via optical or something.

Your TV should have a mini jack along side the DVI input, you can output the sound via component (red and white connectors) and get a component to mini jack converter, or you could output via optical directly into a surround sound system or something.

    Grand thanks.

My HD tv is weird it lnly has 2 other scart sockets and one optical sound socket so looks like i will now have to purchase yet another cable as in an optical cable.

    Cheers.

Are you sure thats optical input on the TV ? That would be very rare. Chances are its output only.

To put audio on your TV it probably has a 3mm jack audio line in or two phono's for stereo audio in. You will need to go from the ps3's av output into your tv.

This is bloody cracking me up

My TV is devfinitely HD Ready. It has a dvi audio socket that is a small hole and a regular speaker socket fits into it but no sound happens.

On the rear of the tv there is only 2 AV sockets and one DVI socket. I had to buy a DVI adaptor for the HDMI cable and i still have no sound but exxellent HD picture.

    Any more advise greatly appreciated.

P.S. There are no other seperate audio sockets on rear of tv like most other tv's. Very frustrating.

By the way i just managed to get sound working via the PS3 standard AV cable to my Logitec sound system. Thats not so bad but its still confusing why sound from PS3 cannot be put on tv via the HDMI?

The sound will go via HDMI, but you are using a DVI connector, and as that is a Video only interface there is nowhere for the audio to go, if I where you I would output the audio via the red and white phono connectors on the AV cable and get an adaptor to convert that to a minijack, and plug that in to the connector beside the DVI input on your TV.

I also have mine setup with HDMI to DVI, and I output the audio to my surroundsound setup via an optical cable.
