One remote control for Irish & FTA Channels

I have just got FTA installed in my house. I also have aerial for RTE1, RTE2, TV3. To watch everything I need remote control for TV for Irish Channels and remote control for FTA decoder to watch all the other channels.

Can I route the signal from the aerial through the FTA decoder and then assign channel number 1-3 on the FTA decoder to Irish Channels and numbers 4-500 to all the FTA channels. That way I can just use the FTA decoder remote control to watch both Irish and FTA channels.

I tried a Philips universal remote control but it didnt work for the Ferguson FTA decoder I have.

    Any suggestions.......

Yes you should be able to do it but depends on your equipment

I have a sky digital system since 2003 I programmed my sky digital remote control with my integrated tv Digital Tuner to receive the 4 Irish tv channels and through the helpful sky digital step by step guide through Services my Sky digital remote controls all the FTA digital satellite tv channels like
bbc1, bbc2, itv1, bbc3, bbc4, itv2, itv3, itv4, (Available through UK Freesat Sky Card) the unblocked Channel4, five, Five us, five life etc

and the 4 Irish tv channels through the Irish DTT pilot project all through my Sky Digital remote

If you have a Sky Digibox for FTA, then your Sky remote can be programmed to operate your TV aswell.

See www.satcure.co.uk for guides on how to program it.

As your FTA box is a Ferguson, it's safe to assume it's not a "Sky digibox"

I'm doubtful if Ferguson make anything anymore, and are merely a brandname. Have you tried putting the make and model on Google, to see what results you get? You may find the same box comes under a different make too which may be programmable on your Philips Universal remote.

Otherwise, maybe get a One 4 All remote, I find these the best universal's with all their codes on the website, as well as a Contact option where somebody will actually reply to a query!

As for your "routing the signal from the aerial through the FTA decoder and then assign channel number 1-3 on the FTA decoder to Irish Channels" this cannot be done unfortunately.
