Have you ever stripped your gun to bits?

Ok, most of us have done a strip down of airsoft guns, but probably only a field strip, removing the slide, barrel and guide rod to get some lube in.

But who else has taken the plunge and taken the WHOLE lot apart?

    I know I have!
I snapped the trigger on my KSC USP, and got a replacement from the states (i'm a member of www.airsoftforums.com).

But let me tell you, it is no easy task replacing a trigger on a KSC. You'd think you can just take the slide off, pop out the horizontal pin and take out the trigger and then reverse the process to get it back in.

Bloody hell, the ENTIRE hammer/decocking mechanism at the rear has to be taken out, bit by bit. This is because the hammer bar that connects the trigger to the hammer can only be removed by doing this first. Then you have to take out the hammer bar and the whole trigger section and replace it.

Let me tell you, I was at it for close to 2 hours! And how did I manage to do it all? I found an online guide on how to dissassemble a REAL USP and to my amazement, the whole KSC has virtually identical internal components, its incredible.

I had the most oddly shaped pieces all over my desk numbering far over 20. Funny thing is, I could do it all again right now in about 15 minutes.

It's a great learning curve, albeit a frustrating one! :D

I've stripped down my UTG m324 till it was nothing but a big pile of tubes, screws, springs and pieces of hop up all over my dinner table.

Took me a while to put back together. At one point the barrel and the hop up kept getting jammed when I tried to slide them back in.

Its fine when it's all working out. But when you reach a problem like this, it can be a scary experience.

I certainly won't be taking any Tokyo Marui AEGs apart ;)

Well if anyone's willing to lend me an AEG, I'll gladly try stripping one down. But I'm not willing to do it with my own AEG until I have a spare!

stripped my cyma mp5 there last week to see if i could fix it, it was firing full auto on semi, lost the spring on the anti-reversal latch in the gearbox so had to order a replacement, decided to order a precision barrel while i was at it.

barrel required a bit of a trim with the dremel to fit (i knew this when i ordered it). put the hopup rubber back in wrong (slightly turned) when i fitted the barrel, so had to strip it again to fix that, all was working well until saturday morning doing some test firing in hrta and the gearbox now sounds like it's trying to rip itself to pieces when i pull the trigger, ill be stripping it again next week to fix that problem.

not bothered too much because it's a clone (although it is currently my only AEG), i should hope i wouldnt have this much trouble with a TM

had to strip down one of my beretta's fully and the other one most of the way [inside the trigger assembly is scary alright some of those springs are just tiny. I had a very very comprehensive guide to go by though thankfully.
Stripped down my VSR 10 quite a few times but theirs only a handfull of parts in comparison. Not looking forward to opening up my Aug but im going have to

I've fully stripped my CYMA CM031, JG G36C, JG MP5, an M4A1, HFC M190 and my WE HI-CAPA DRAGON (to change springs/bushings etc..). As long as you take your time to read up and get as much info as you can(I.E pics or a guide).
Give yourself plenty of time, a full day just incase AND DONT JUST GIVE UP HALF WAY THROUGH as you might for get where it all goes.

did you take the gearbox apart at all?
what caused the problem to start?

i had this same problem during the week, i very stupidly put the piston in wrong. it was turned 90 degrees, so the grooves where the gear should connect with the piston werent lined up, the gear was just hitting the side of the piston and jamming

its also possible the motor is wired the wrong way around and the anti-reversal latch is the click your hearing

dont keep holding the trigger if it's not firing though, youll burn out the motor

also, have a look at the video's on mechbox.com, in particular:

    mp5 disassemly
    mp5 reassembly

Which, CA or TM,I have a CA but Havent dared go near it yet (but i only got it 2 weeks ago)

I took my m9 apart to clean the piston, lost two springs and got very pissed off. tried to replace it with 1 stronger one. It works for 5 shots then jams:mad:

    anyone know a spring store?

This is the real USP guide I used to strip mine down. Flip through some of the pages and you'll see how messy it gets!
