Went out for a few hours this afternoon, had to shoot some B&W for a college project & brought along the 350 for company aswell. No tripod, rested the cam on whatever was available or handheld.

    Please C&C :)

Like the 1st & 3rd best. Maybe a slightly faster shutter speed in the 1st would have brightened the background while still showing movement in the water. I like the last one as well but find the colour of the water in the top righthand side a little distracting. Overall great shots, well done.

    I love the last one.

The last one is fabulous. The water is a bit burnt out in the others.

I apologise for any blown out whites, I'm having monitor calibration problems, I know I should go by the levels but I trust my eyes more ...

The photos were taken in Mullinavat, Co. Kilkenny :)

    Thanks everyone :)

Poulanassy or Clonassy as it's sometimes known. Nice for a swim in the pool there. If I could swim that is.

Not sure how qualified I am to give an opinion but i agree with the majority, no. 4 is excellent. And i'm not a big fan of those kinds of water shots.

Like them all, but the last one is simply stunning!!!! Excellent job

What settings did you use to capture the rushing water effect? Any time I try to do that I end up with a completely blown out white frame :o:

I'h hazard a guess at fully stopped down and an ND filter?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,484 ✭✭✭✭Stephen

Aha... I was stopped down as far as my lens would go (f/32) but no filter. Still lots to learn :)

Last one is fantastic Paddy, but is is my imagination, or are there burn marks on it?

I don't feel the others work as well - Maybe with similar processing to the last, they'll work though?

last one looks better on my laptop screen here than it does at home on the CRT. however, i trust the CRT more than this screen, this one is too bright.
