How to find summer employment?

As per title, I'm wondering is it possible to find a job in which it is possible to work a full 40 hour week but just for the summer?

I'd particularly like to work in retail stores, because I've had over 2 yrs experience working part-time in a shop and I'd really like to leave there after my LC exams in June.

Should I supply CVs to shops now or wait a while?

Best off throwing CVs in all the shops now so they at least have them on file. I'd say you'll have little to no chance of anything other than supermarkets if you apply at the last minute. What kind of shop have you been working for?

Hey mate in a similar boat as you now! was working in retail but left at x-mass to study for leaving (still didnt study!!!) but hoping to get another job for summer!

There seems to be a trend with summer jobs, most people will go out and find one over the next few months so you would be best handing in a C.v soon enough!

    Are you in Dublin?
I'd start now to test the water. If they tell you to come back in May or whatever, at least you know.
I've had jobs working 40 hours a week for 3 months. Arnotts was one of them. Nice place to work when you're a student.

i would advise just going to find a job without the mention that it is just a summer job. i found that id only get offered very menial minimum wage positions when people knew i was only going to be there a short time(some people would say thats fair enough) whereas as soon as i stopped putting in my covering letter that i am a student looking for summer work i got a lot more interviews for more interesting(slightly) positions with far better money.

also check out all the recruitment websites .....headhunt.ie was good for me as i applied for one position and they sent me emails and called me about other positions that they felt i can do from my cv that i had either not seen the ads for or felt i wouldnt have a chance in the interview
