OK I have a PS, HDTV and a Logitech Z5500 system. I've connected the PS3 to the HDTV with a HDMI lead. I've used an optical lead from the PS3 to the Z5500 base. When I put in a game the sound is fantastic and plays in Dolby Digital. Happy Days!!!! When I put in a Blu-Ray film it wont play in Dolby Digital. The background and noise effects are perfect but the voices on screen are all muffled. This is happening on the 2 Blu-Ray discs I have.. What settings should I have in the PS3 menu??

I'm having a problem with Z5500/PS3 that might be related

Running GT:HD on Optical with either the music or movie effect results in the game being mute. Sound will output when i select Digital as an effect, at which point the other effects are no longer available as an option.

Are you sure it's not your audio settings on the BD?

I had a similarish issue with Black Hawk Down on my PS3 conntected to a Yamaha YSP1000. Sound really was low and dull even at high volume, I pressed the audio button on the PS3 BD remote controller and it blew the clock off the wall nearly...seems it was an option that I could not find on the regular menus but there ya go. worth checking I guess.

I have also been having the same issue.

I tried connecting the HDMI Cable, Fibre Optic Cable and played around with the audio settings, and the Blu Ray disc settings (in the set-up menu), I've even tried taking the PS3 to a friends place and set it up with his amp.

    NO GO!!!!

I rang the place I bought it from and no one had any idea of the difference between Pro-logic and Digital (bought it from EB Games).

It's the same as yours, everything else is playing Digital, and if push the select button on the remote or controller you'll see it says it's playing in Digital.

    ARRGGGGHH!

I'm going to contact Sony tommorrow to ask them if they are aware. Maybe it will require an additional download patch.

    I'll let you know :)

Ok I have mine working.. as I said in my previous post I'm only having a problem with the sound while watching a Blu Ray film.. go to sound settings -audio settings - digital out optical and select the sound that the film is supposed to be played in.. Dolby Digital or DTS.. you cant have both options turned on at the same time. I did and when I removed the option I didn't need( Dolby or DTS) it worked.
