    Hey Folks,

I had a Sony 17" TFT for many years and never had any issues with it, it was a great monitor. A while back I was given a Viewsonic Viewdock by a supplier and it has an issue of some sort that I don't quite understand.

If the computer is not used and the monitor comes on from Stand By the screen doesn't seem to be as bright as it should be. I've checked the settings, gotten it to auto adjust itself and nothing seems to sort it out except a restart.............. at least that's what I thought. I've just started up the computer now from a state of being off completely and the screen is kind of dull looking.

Would it be something to do with the lamps behind the screen? I'm at a loss to explain it as sometimes it's ok and other times it's as I've described.

    Can anyone elaborate?

Try update for the monitor and the graphics driver

Possibly the back light is defective not something you can really repair on your own.

Viewsonic have pretty decent tech support might be worth firing off an email and asking them what's up with it & if it can be fixed.
