Has anybody tried this? I see pokerroom are offering NL holdem for new fancy 3G phones. Since I'll be buying a new phone soon it may be an influencing factor. Worth while or just a gimmick?

Dont tell HalfBaked. Then he'll have live poker every night, online when the casinos close and poker on his phone whenever he's on the move. All he'll need then is to sync a pokerclient with his subconscious so that he can frantically multitable while sleeping

I can't imagine it would be too playable, but then I have never tried it and don't intend to at this point in time.

i had a poker game on the phone before,
utter trash, the AI was terrible, was no challege to beat the game,
and playing it could seriously affect your play in other games

i remember being at the fitz thurs night freeroll once (about year and 1/2 ago when i started playing) and there was a guy next to me playing some kind of poker game on his blackberry in between real worldhands. ( notsure if it was online or V computer). I thought it was pretty sick at the time. Innocent days!

I used play it before on Pokerroom, it was just limit poker at the time, it has some big disadvanatges, you have no pahud for one thing, you can't multi-table, the very nature of only being able to play on your phone instead of pc means you are probably in an unideal environment, i.e. on a train, in a pub etc, interruptions are more likely etc etc, i'm not saying you couldn't make money from it, but your win rate is certainly going to be significantly less than on a pc. Anyway I stopped playing, I just didn't think it was worth spending time on it.

Well you'd actually be playing against real players on their network for real money.

I'm managed to get my hands on a blackberry, I'll test it out when i get the time.

on a phone i imagine it would be very fiddly...but on a phone PDA like the O2 XDA...well that would be different and it could be very playable

Poker rakes are bad enough without adding phone call prices into the equation.
