Live tournament, final table, folded to SB who raises the Pot 3,500. Before the BB has time to act SB says "call"

What is the ruling here. BB complains his option was denied althought SB understood that should BB go all in he was committed to calling.

Did SB do anything wrong. Is it considered speech play, was it unethical of him

Alright. The SB was clearly being a twat. He only says that to put the BB off from going all - in. In theory, my understanding is that verbal declarations out of turn could be considered binding.

However, I believe that if a rule is abused in this fashion so that it gives the person acting out of turn a clear advantage in a hand - it should not be enforced. By this I mean, a player should not be able to manipulate the rulebook so that he limits the options of his opponents.

As such, a common sense ruling IMO would be for the BB to be allowed to take any action after the SB is explicitly told that they are not obligated to call a possible all - in. Also, this would be a good spot to warn the SB about future misconduct // give them a time penalty.

Oh, and - if I'm the BB I'm pushing with Q7 or better, actually hoping to get it in behind and suck out.

    No - not strictly

    Yep

Unethical is when we let children stave in africa whilst worring about our 300k mortgage - it's only a game and should be played as one

i suppose it depended on the situation - could be just "good banter", more likely just being a complete twat - which unfortunately is very common

...i hope he lost if it's the latter

I'd just let them play, I don't see the problem unless your club has gay rules about speechplay. If necessary make it clear SB's "call" isn't binding.
