    Hi
    Wonder could anyone help me.
My NTL box is not transmitting to my tv. Ntl engineer wont be able to come out for 2 weeks. and the customer service aint very helpful.
I think the problem is that under the ntl settings they were changed to av input. the problem now is that i dont have the origiinal remote for the tv and obviously i cant get into the ntl settings because it is not transmitting now to the tv.
Is there anyway around this?...2 weeks is long time :(
    thanks

I'm bit unclear as to your exact problem. I suspect you've accidentally turned off the "SCART AV control" option in the settings. This setting, when on, means that when you turn on the ntl: box, it automatically selects that SCART input on the TV. If you have it set to off, you'll have to select the appropriate AV input by hand.

What you'll have to do is somehow select the SCART input manually, either using the remote or possibly using controls on the TV itself. If you don't have an original remote you may be missing the key to do this, but some TV's include the various AV inputs in the list of channels, so it could be just a case of switching on the ntl: box and simply flicking through using P+/P- until you find the right "channel".

Yeh thats exactly what the problem is thanks.
Unfortunately, i dont have the original remote for the tv ( have a one for all remote now and it doesnt have an av button on it )
so if i keep searching through the channels ( ie tunning ) i should be able to find the reception ?
    thanks again

You've probably checked but is there are AV button on the tv anywhere? Normally there is one, sometimes behind a panel or something.

It depends on the TV, but my Philips had all the AV inputs (SCART, S-Video etc.) before the programmed TV channels, so if you select channel 1, and go backwards using P- you may find it .. no guarantees though :)

Otherwise .. What make of TV is it? If you can find someone locally with the same make of TV you may be able to borrow their remote for a few minutes and use that to select the SCART input, and then set the SCART AV Control back to 'on'.

I'm in work now but if I think of it when I get home. I'll tell you what sequence of buttons you need to press to get the scart AV control back.

Keep pressing the "channels" buttons and this should bring up the AV channels eventually. these are usually before 0 or 1

That's a good idea! The benefits of working from home :)

    Press menu 5 3 down-arrow down-arrow down-arrow right-arrow

Then press TV to get it back to TV mode and then switch the box off and on again.

P.S. On my box, switching the SCART AV back on also seems to change the output from RGB to composite for some strange reason, so if you had it on RGB before you may need to switch it back again.

So is it working again? Did you find the AV inputs in the channels list like I suggested?

You should be able to ring the one for all remote people and add the av button to your remote control.
