In view of the amount of gamesmanship that is now rampant in football, I think it’s about time Fifa abandoned the players’ handshake prior to matches. There is more honour to be found among thieves than there is between footballers today.

"But Father Brian D'arcy and Daniel is in it!"

No easy answer to that question. Given tales of sex and drugs and celebrity, the public do seem to want to read about "the worst" in society.

    People are curious.

Its no different from peaceful law-abiding citizens buying a book about crime, weather it be a book on murder or lawlessness or the IRA or the UFF.

Its also convenient for the Irish Times to print that letter, since they respect the Sabbath themselves!

Is there a connection between going to mass and the tabloids?

Well they are both full of shoite that only an idiot will believe.

My mistake, it was the Examiner, well I am not a Catholic and I don't bother with da tabloids, except for the Irish Independant and the Herald. I just thaught the content of the letter was witty and worth posting.

BTW, the Biblical Sabbath is always a saturday, ie sun down friday to sundown Saturday and has never changed. It was Pope Constantine from the Catholic Religion that changed it to a Sunday in 321AD and tradition followed. So technically yes the Irish Times is published on the Sabbath.

I'm locking this thread as the OP seems to have changed topic half way through the discussion for no apparent reason - Briadidup - if you want it re-opened PM me and you can explain exactly what's happening here.

Also it looks to me as though the first post is just a copy/paste job of a letter published elsewhere (as was the original version of the post) - it also lacks a link. If this is indeed the case the thread won't be re-opened at all.
